In light of growing activity, ÍSOR is now seeking an ambitious individual for a position at the chemistry laboratory. The chemistry laboratory handles analyses of liquid and gas samples, especially in connection with groundwater and geothermal research.

"The most valuable thing Iceland can offer Europe is not its geology but its knowledge and experience," said Árni Magnússon, Managing Director of ÍSOR, in an interview with CE Energy News in connection with the 4th Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit, held in Budapest on 14 September. CE Energy News also covered Árni Magnússon presentation at the conference, in which he discussed how Iceland's experience can benefit Europe in expanding the use of geothermal energy.

Last week a group of ÍSOR staff headed north on the annual trip to map and monitor surface activity at the geothermal areas that Landsvirkjun utilises in Northeast Iceland, at Námafjall, Krafla and Þeistareykir.

Drilling of a new production well for Hitaveita Kílhrauns at Áshildarmýri in Skeið was completed at the weekend with very good results. The well yields water at about 80°C, and the first results point to a large production capacity.
